How can I make the results from my teeth whitening treatment last longer?
We know that beauty and function are equally important to many of our patients. Our patients often opt to have their teeth professionally whitened in our office. Because whitening is an investment of both time and money, we know making the results last is important to you.
What to Avoid to After Whitening
Some of the ways you can help your dental whitening last longer is by avoiding certain bad habits and stain causing activities.
If you smoke, stop. Call us if you need help with this. Hundreds of great reasons exist to stop smoking and your beautiful white smile is another one.
You can still enjoy foods and drinks that are known to stain, but take the time to brush your teeth after eating or drinking. Beverages like red wine, coffee, and tea are especially staining to teeth. Brushing your teeth immediately afterward can help prevent re-staining.
Practice good oral hygiene habits, including regular brushing and flossing as directed, and return to us for twice-yearly professional cleanings. We can also talk about maintenance using professional teeth whitening gel and custom trays.
Avoid staining (dark colored) foods and beverages directly after whitening your teeth. Right after teeth whitening, the pores in your teeth are still open and more susceptible to stains.
