What can I do as a patient to prevent implant complications?
Immediately after placement avoid chewing foods in this area to allow it to heal properly. Follow post-operative instructions like avoiding smoking, spitting, and sucking on a straw. Brush and floss your teeth like you would normally (2-3x's per day).
Regular Dental Cleanings
See your dentist at least 2x's per year to clean around your implants.
What to Avoid
Avoid foods that would damage your implants (ie. Ice, whole almonds, cracklins, opening bottles with your teeth).
Smoking cessation is advised to get better long term predictable results.
Clenching and Grinding patients should look into purchasing a night guard to protect their natural teeth and prevent damage to their implants.
