Periodontal Disease Instances Surpass Diabetes
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), more than half of all Americans do not receive regular dental care. Given that information, it should be no surprise to hear that instances of periodontal (gum) disease are on the rise. In fact, periodontal disease has surpassed diabetes in numbers of people infected in the US.
Additionally, scientists discovered links between periodontal disease and all of the top chronic diseases that cause death: heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and asthma.
