Will laser dentistry hurt?
We understand that many people fear dentistry and the thought of high tech lasers inside your mouth may conjure images of high tech pain. The fact is, in skilled hands, lasers provide more precision and fewer vibrations than in typical dentistry.
For example, in the case of cavities, lasers can be set to accurately remove decay but leave the rest of your tooth completely intact. Lasers are designed to seek out certain densities of tissue. The density of decay is different than that of healthy tooth structure. That means, more accurate decay removal and less chance of leaving behind a small amount of decay.
The thought of lasers in your mouth may make you uneasy, but Drs. Smith and Domingue will make sure you are completely comfortable for your dental procedures. In some cases, additional anesthetic may not be necessary, but if it is, Drs. Smith and Domingue will make sure you are completely numb before they begin.
Your comfort is one of our top priorities. If you have concerns about pain or if you have a fear of the dentist, be honest with us about it. With all of the technology and resources available to us today, you do not need to worry about pain or anxiety at the dentist.
