What is bone grafting?
When we evaluate your health prior to placing dental implants, we take various types of images including a 3D scan of your teeth and jaw. What we are looking for is that you have enough bone density to successfully sustain a dental implant. We also use 3D imaging in order to find the ideal location for your dental implant.
If we determine you do not have enough bone, we may recommend bone grafting. Bone grafting is simply a procedure where we take donor bone (either from you or another source) and place it in the area where you need more bone density. We allow the bone to regenerate and then we re-evaluate your bone density.
Once we have enough bone density in the area where you need a dental implant, we can proceed with implant placement and restoration, so you can have a complete chewing surface and a beautiful smile.
Drs. Smith and Domingue are experts at bone grafting and implant placement. If someone has told you that you do not qualify for a dental implant, we encourage you to call for an evaluation anyway. Drs. Smith and Domingue are experienced even with the most difficult cases and you may be surprised to learn that you can have your dental implants after all.
