  • “ I have had the best experience with Dr. Domingue and his staff! He's kind, professional, and is extremely involved with every aspect of the patient care. His staff is one of the friendliest I have ever met. They don't only work in your mouth, they form real professional relationships. Dr. Domingue recently told me he was going to work with my time because, "you are way busier than I am". What a humble statement! I was so impressed when he recently shared that he was going on a mission trip to serve in Mexico. I think he is a gift to the lafayette community, and everyone needs to know.”

Why Laser Dentistry is Great for Our Patients

At our office, we carefully consider the benefits of new technology before we invest our time and money into it. Instead of jumping on every new gimmick, we carefully weigh how technology might make dentistry easier and more comfortable for our patients. We focus on results and how to increase treatment success and longevity, providing greater value to our patients.

When we decided to offer laser dentistry, we looked at the benefits from a patient standpoint and came up with a few main reasons why laser dentistry is great for our patients.

Preserving Your Tooth Structure

The old method of decay removal involved taking some healthy tooth structure in order to ensure that we removed all of the decay properly.

When we use lasers to remove decay from your tooth, we can adjust the settings so that the laser seeks out only a specific density of tissue. That means we can remove the softer, decayed tooth structure and leave the healthy structure behind.

Comfortable Procedures

Pain during restorative work comes primarily from pressure, heat, and vibration. With the use of laser dentistry, we can avoid all three and in some cases, we may not even need to numb your tooth for small procedures. Because we avoid direct contact with a hand piece during laser dentistry, patients report feeling much more comfortable and less soreness during recovery.

Periodontal Treatments

We can treat periodontal infections without the need for surgery by using lasers to remove any infected or damaged tissue. This allows for regeneration of healthy tissue and faster healing.

Procedures such as gingival sculpting and the removal of lesions and growths are easier with the use of a laser. Lasers can reduce healing time, as well.

At our Lafayette, LA dental office, we are committed to making dentistry as easy and accurate as possible for our patients who deserve the very best dentistry available.
