  • “ I have had the best experience with Dr. Domingue and his staff! He's kind, professional, and is extremely involved with every aspect of the patient care. His staff is one of the friendliest I have ever met. They don't only work in your mouth, they form real professional relationships. Dr. Domingue recently told me he was going to work with my time because, "you are way busier than I am". What a humble statement! I was so impressed when he recently shared that he was going on a mission trip to serve in Mexico. I think he is a gift to the lafayette community, and everyone needs to know.”

Laser Dentistry in Lafayette, LA

Dentistry has expanded by leaps and bounds in the last few years. New technology is constantly becoming available that makes dental care more efficient, more effective, and more comfortable than ever before.

At our office, we want our patients to have a comfortable experience every time, and therefore we’ve taken the time to explore the new offerings that dental technology has provided to determine which techniques and procedures are right for our patients.

We’ve found that laser-assisted dental procedures are an excellent way to treat a variety of issues comfortably and conservatively. The dental laser allows us to target the problem with pinpoint accuracy and preserve a greater amount of healthy tissue.

Dental Laser Treatments

a person gets a laser dental treatment | laser dentistry Laffayette LAAt our Acadiana dental office, we use lasers to treat periodontal disease, prepare teeth for fillings, and treat soft tissue problems like fibromas and lesions. Lasers quickly and effectively destroy bacteria for efficient and comfortable sterilization while leaving healthy tissue intact.

Periodontal Disease Therapy – Deep cleanings are a common treatment used to treat periodontal disease. Using a dental laser, we are able to quickly eradicate affected gum tissue, kill bacteria, and smooth out the surface of the tooth’s root to prevent future infection. The procedure is faster and more comfortable than when performed with traditional tools, a feature that our patients appreciate.

Tooth Preparation – To prepare a tooth for a filling, the decayed portion of the tooth must be removed. In the past, this usually meant that a portion of healthy tooth had to go along with it because the instruments simply didn’t allow for perfect precision. Thanks to dental lasers, we can remove only the decayed portion of the tooth, which allows for more conservative care, more structural integrity, and less filling material. In some cases, if we catch the cavity early enough, we may be able to simply remove the decayed portion of the tooth with no need for filling at all.

Soft Tissue Procedures – Growths, fibers, lesions, and infections, while not common, are not rare either. Dental lasers allow us to treat these problems without the need for surgery. The laser quickly and comfortably removes fibrous or infected tissue while leaving healthy tissue intact. Also, the risks of discomfort and bleeding are significantly lessened, and you are likely to experience a much shorter and more comfortable healing time.
